Windows 11 & 10 · Scan before recovery
One product for multiple data-loss situations: deleted files · formatted drives · lost partitions · HDDs · SSDs · USB drives · memory cards
Important: Stop using the affected storage device as soon as possible. Saving new files or continuing to use the device may overwrite data that could still be recoverable.

Can Your Data Be Recovered?
In many cases, yes. Files that have been deleted, lost after formatting, or become inaccessible may still remain on the storage device until their original data is overwritten.
Whether recovery is possible depends on what caused the data loss, the type of storage device, and what happened afterward.
Recovery Is More Likely When
- Files were accidentally deleted recently.
- You emptied the Recycle Bin or used Shift+Delete.
- A drive or memory card was formatted but has not been heavily reused.
- A partition was accidentally deleted or lost.
- A drive appears as RAW or inaccessible, but Windows still detects it.
- Little or no new data has been written to the affected device.
Recovery May Be More Difficult When
- New files have overwritten the lost data.
- Windows or other software has been reinstalled on the affected drive.
- The storage device was securely erased or completely overwritten.
- SSD TRIM has already removed deleted file data.
- The device is physically damaged, or Windows cannot detect it.
What Should You Do First?
Stop using the affected storage device immediately.
Avoid saving new files, formatting the device again, installing software on it, or attempting unnecessary repairs before recovering your important data.
If Windows still detects the storage device and it shows no signs of physical failure, scan it with RecoveryRobot Pro to see what may still be recoverable.
Free Download for WindowsHow to Recover Lost Data with RecoveryRobot Pro in 3 Steps
If the affected storage device is detected by Windows and shows no signs of physical failure, you can scan it with RecoveryRobot Pro in three steps.
1. Select the Storage Device
Download and open RecoveryRobot Pro on your Windows PC.
Choose the hard drive, SSD, USB drive, memory card, or other supported device where your data was lost.
Whenever possible, install RecoveryRobot Pro on a different physical drive from the one you want to recover.
2. Scan for Lost Files
Start the scan and let RecoveryRobot Pro search the selected device for recoverable data.
Once the scan is complete, browse the results to locate deleted, formatted, lost, or inaccessible files.
3. Preview and Recover
Preview supported files, select what you want to recover, and save them to a different physical drive or storage device.
Do not save recovered files back to the affected device, as this may overwrite other data that could still be recoverable.

Free Download for WindowsImportant: The device must be detected by Windows before RecoveryRobot Pro can scan it. If a hard drive shows signs of physical failure, makes unusual noises, or repeatedly disconnects, stop using it and consider professional recovery.

Free Download for WindowsWhat to Do Immediately After Data Loss
The actions you take after losing data can affect whether your files are still recoverable. Before starting a scan, follow these precautions.
1. Stop Using the Affected Device
Avoid saving new files, downloading software, installing updates, or making other changes to the drive or storage device where the data was lost.
New data may overwrite files that could otherwise be recovered.
2. Do Not Format or Repair the Device
If Windows asks you to format or initialize the drive, cancel the operation.
Avoid running CHKDSK, partition-repair tools, or other utilities that may modify the file system before recovering important files.
3. Check for Physical Failure
If a hard drive makes clicking or grinding noises, repeatedly disconnects, or shows other signs of hardware failure, stop using it.
Recovery software cannot repair physical damage, and repeated scanning may make the situation worse.
4. Install RecoveryRobot Pro Somewhere Else
Whenever possible, install RecoveryRobot Pro on a different physical drive from the one you want to recover.
This reduces the risk of overwriting lost data during installation.
5. Prepare a Safe Recovery Location
Have another physical drive or storage device ready for the recovered files.
Never save recovered data back to the same device you are scanning.
6. Scan the Affected Device
If Windows still detects the device and it shows no signs of physical failure, scan it with RecoveryRobot Pro to see what may still be recoverable.
Remember: The safest approach is to make as few changes as possible to the original storage device until your important files have been recovered.
When RecoveryRobot Pro May Not Help
RecoveryRobot Pro is designed for logical data-loss situations. Recovery may not be possible when the original data has been overwritten or the storage device has a hardware-level problem.
The Lost Data Has Been Overwritten
If new files have reused the same storage space, the original contents may no longer be recoverable.
Continued use of the affected device increases this risk.
SSD TRIM Has Removed Deleted Data
On SSDs, TRIM may cause deleted file data to become permanently unavailable.
In these cases, recovery software may find little or nothing to restore.
The Device Was Securely Erased
Secure erase and overwrite operations are specifically designed to remove existing data.
Once the original contents have been completely overwritten, software cannot reconstruct them.
The Storage Device Has Physical Damage
RecoveryRobot Pro cannot repair damaged hard-drive heads, motors, memory chips, connectors, or other hardware components.
If a drive clicks, grinds, repeatedly disconnects, or shows signs of physical failure, stop using it and consider professional recovery.
Windows Cannot Detect the Device
RecoveryRobot Pro needs Windows to recognize the storage device before it can scan it.
If the device is not detected, first rule out connection problems such as a faulty cable, USB port, card reader, or enclosure, provided there are no signs of physical failure.
Recovered Files Are Incomplete or Corrupted
Finding a file does not guarantee that all of its original data is still intact.
Files that have been partially overwritten may be damaged, incomplete, or unable to open correctly.
If the storage device is detected by Windows and shows no signs of physical failure, scanning it is the best way to see what may still be recoverable.
